AlphaGen Software Solutions B.V. is a Dutch software firm working with businesses that depend on custom systems but do not want to staff a full technical team to get them. We take a project from specification through to the version that is still running three years later.

A defined deliverable, an agreed price and a date. Best when the requirements are already clear enough to write down and unlikely to move much.
Engineers working as an extension of yours, on a monthly basis. Best when the direction is clear but the specification will keep changing as you learn.
An agreed monthly allocation for maintaining, fixing and improving a system already in production, with a defined response time.
Approach
A brief that goes straight into development usually comes back out as rework. We would rather spend the first week disagreeing with you about scope than the last month rebuilding.
Architecture notes, data models and API contracts are produced alongside the code, so another engineer can pick the system up without an archaeology phase.
We choose widely used tools with long support horizons over whatever is currently interesting. It makes a system cheaper to hire for and cheaper to keep alive.
Accounts, repositories, infrastructure and data stay in your name and under your control. Handover is a normal part of the work, not a negotiation at the end of it.

We stay small on purpose. The people who scope a project are the people who build it, and the person you speak to in the first meeting does not disappear once the contract is signed. Most of our work comes from businesses that have outgrown off-the-shelf software but are not large enough to justify a permanent engineering team.
We work in English and Dutch, primarily with clients in the Netherlands, USA and the wider EU.
